This wine has a problem. It's not that it is bad, just that it is a basic mid-range Montepulciano d'Abruzzo which has failed to keep itself ahead of the more basic, budget priced wines of thie type as they have improved over the last couple of years. We enjoyed it for its basic qualities; clear red colour, good balance of acidity and smooth body but we have enjoyed much cheaper wines just as much recently. It is a mix of Montepulciano and Sangiovese rather than pure Montepulciano as implied by the name. Wine rating 5/10. Value -1 |
