Boccatino Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 1999
Price wise, this wine is creeping out of the inexpensive class for this type of wine and, while it is not bad, it does not do enough to justify the price demanded.

It hits the spot on colour and has a good aroma a fruity taste and a smooth texture but there is a trace of unpleasantness in the aftertaste which you avoid by the simple expedient of paying one third less for another bottler's attempt at this type of wine.

Slightly better is the bottling from Terre del Sole which is usefully cheaper and sits alongside this wine in Marktkauf.

It is a mix of Montepulciano and Sangiovese rather than pure Montepulciano as implied by the name.

Wine rating 5/10. Value -1
