1999 Le Altane Merlot Delle Venezie
This wine is heavier and darker than is normal for this style. It was more like a French Merlot than an Italian. If you favour light fruity reds, you should give this a miss but if you are in the habit of paying this sort of money for a Red Bordeaux than you might be interested to try it.
When we tried this wine, we felt that it was a little too acid to really pass muster though it has a good body and a pleasing aroma. In the final analysis, the problems outweigh the virtues. Wine rating 5/10. Value rating -2 |
