Santa Illana 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Valle del Maule Chile

My notes tell me that the 2001 was a step forward from the previous year and the makers of this wine have made further progress in 2002. Open the bottle and you do not even need to raise it to your nose to appreciate the aroma. Pour a glass and it is better still. The colour is a delightful mix of red and purple, a lot like some wines from the north of Italy. When you taste it, the comparison works further. With a smooth, full body, the slighly spicy taste is a lot like a better than average Chianti. Wine rating 6/10. Value rating +1 |
