My Rating Four out of ten. One man and his guitar. |

My review It is very hard to pull off a performance like this. Just a raw unaccompanied acoustic guitar and vocals from a live performance. You have to be very good indeed to sound significantly better than a competent busker. Grant Hart does achieve that.but he doesn't make the album memorable. At it's best, parts of this CD put me in mind of REM but on other moments, I was reminded of Magic Michael a best forgotten seventies embarrassment. Grant's fans will love this CD because it does open a new window onto his musical world but that's about it. I'd advise anyone else to listen to something like Good News For Modern Man first. |
