Formula one: Ken Tyrrell:
Former team owner Ken Tyrrell died on the 25th of August aged 77. He had been suffering from cancer since 1999. The highlight of his long career as a team owner was his time with Jackie Stewart as a driver. Stewart won three driver's championships with Tyrrell's cars. In the years that followed, the team had rather more downs than ups but they were always competing up until 1997 when the team was sold to to BAR as the basis for the latter's entry into F1.
Even in the back biting world of Formula one, you'd never hear bad things about the man that the pitlane called Uncle Ken. He was a good bloke and he will be missed.
Condolences to his family and friends but his memory will stay around and his name will live in the record books.
