Robert Sheckley

Best known for his short stories, Sheckley also writes some wonderfully funny novels.

Unlike some authors who write humour which happens to be science fiction, Sheckley is very much an S.F. writer who happens to write very funny material.

Sheckley is not just a humorist though. He uses his talents to make many poignant comments on the human condition. If you wish to point out that that is the highest peak that humour can ascend then I agree.
