Modern SF's Leading Anthologist
It cannot be easy living in the shadow of an anthologist of the stature of Gardner Dozois but that is the fate chosen by David G.Hartwell when he undertook to create his own annual "Best SF" series.

Hartwell's series is more concentrated on pure SF and the books are generally shorter and somewhat cheaper than the Dozois ones. I'm not going to tell you which to buy. If you are into SF short stories, it's worth getting them both.

"Year's best" series
Year's Best SF A good start to the series
Year's Best SF 2 At least half a dozen "must read" stories.
Year's Best SF 5 Missed the mark.
