You can buy this novel on its own from cover
But it's better to get the omnibus edition cover
Five out of ten.
If you are interested in this, I suggest that you buy the omnibus edition which contains all of the five main novels plus (in the non-UK editions) a bonus short story.
This is the second of Adams' five Hitch-Hiker's Guide novels and it is a very loose approximation to the second radio series. It diverges from the radio shows rather more than the first book but it still suffers from the fact that the original format does not translate very well into book form.

As with the first book in this series the only reason for reading it is this:

The last three books take the story forward after the end of the radio shows. They do not have such a heavy debt to the radio format and they are better to read but you will only get the most out of them if you have already read the first two books in the series.

That is far from ideal but there you go.
